TRANSCRIPT
Hello and Welcome to “In All Our Doings”
- A confession, some Cranmer, a creed and collects. brought to you daily by Anglican Futures.
Thank you for joining us and we hope these timeless truths will strengthen you for whatever you face in the coming day.
And so we begin with Confession
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
Grant to your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ame
Knowing our own sinfulness, Cranmer points us to the one who can save
To God, therefore must we flee; or else shall we never find peace, rest and quietness of conscience in our hearts. For he is the Father of mercies, and God of all consolation. He is the Lord with whom there is plenteous redemption. He is the God which of His own mercy saves us and sets out His charity and exceeding love towards us. In that of His own voluntary goodness, when we were perished, He saved us and provided an everlasting Kingdom for us. And all these heavenly treasures are given us not for our own deserts, merits, or good deeds, which of ourselves we have none. But if his mere mercy freely. And for who’s sake? Truly, for Jesus Christ sake, that pure and undefiled Lamb of God. He is that dearly beloved son for whose sake God is fully pacified, satisfied and set at one with man. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Of whom only it may be truly spoken, that “he did all things well”, and “in his mouth was found no craft nor subtlety”. None but he alone may say, “the Prince of the World came, and in me he has nothing”. And he alone may say also, “Which of you shall reprove me of any fault? He is the high and everlasting priest, who has offered himself once for all upon the altar of the Cross, and with that one ablation has made perfect for evermore them that are sanctified. He is the only mediator between God and man, who paid our ransom to God with his own blood, and with that has he cleansed us from all sin. He is the physician who heals all our diseases. He is that Saviour who saves his people from all their sins.
So, we turn in our bibles to Luke Chapter 23:31-32
Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. 33 And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
This is the word of the Lord
The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
Let us pray
Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from the evil one
For the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever Amen
Today’s Collect
Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of this world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
.
Go before us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favour, and further us with your continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in you, we may glorify your holy Name, and finally, through your mercy, obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Final Words
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
